Fujian Medical University (FMU) was founded in 1937. Through 77 years of development, it’s become a provincial educational institution to combine teaching, scientific research, medical treatment and social services, producing bachelors, masters, and PhDs. The university located in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province. Now it consists of Shangjie campus and Taijiang campus, covering an area of approximately 100 hectares with a floor space of 400,000 square meters. At present, it the university comprises 20 schools and departments, which offer 24 undergraduate programs, 29 doctorate programs, 63 master programs, and 5 authorized master degree specialties. For now, it has over 13,000 undergraduates and about 2,600 doctoral and master’s programs learners. Currently, FMU has a staff of about 9280 with a faculty of 1241. Among them, those with senior professional title account for 70.75%, and there’re 111 doctoral advisers and 618 master tutors. Besides, it boasts 16 affiliated hospitals, and 30 clinical teaching-oriented hospitals, forming a relatively complete system for clinical teaching. Since 1998 it has enrolled more than 300 international students. Since 2008 FMU has been listed as the university which is qualified to recruit the foreign students of medicine taught in English by National Education Ministry. In 2011, FMU was approved as the university to accept the Chinese government scholarship students. Now it has more than 300 international students.
