Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is founded in 1956. It is one out of the first four Traditional Chinese Medicine Universities founded after the establishment of People’s Republic of China. It is also the only medicinal institution in Shanghai with special features. In 2003, the main campus of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is relocated into Zhangjiang High-Tech Park in Pudong New Area and has hence become a major component of “Zhangjiang Pharmaceutical Valley”. Up to the date of November 2013, the university has established 29 undergraduate-degree level and junior-college level majors, as well as 3 primary-disciplinary level doctorial students cultivation stations. (ie. Traditional Chinese Medicine, Integration of Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine and TCM Pharmacology). The university also has 15 secondary-disciplinary level doctorial students cultivation stations, 23 master-level students cultivation stations, and 3 post-doctorate-level cultivation stations. The doctoral degrees offered by our university cover all Chinese Medicine disciplines. 14 secondary colleges along with departments and centers are established in our university. 3 hospitals are directly affiliated to, and 2 hospitals are non-directly affiliated to our university. 20 research institutions are established or co-established by our university as well as 13 research centers. Our college is the “innovative talents cultivation experimentation plot” as well as “feature major cultivation point”.
