Founded in 1958, Inner Mongolia University for the Nationalities (IMUN) is a unique university with distinct local and ethnic characteristics as well as a key university under the direct administration of People’s government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is now based on the joint effort of State Nationalities Affairs Commission and People’s government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The university has 25 colleges and 2 teaching departments, and offers 65 bachelor’s degree programs, 11 first-level disciplines for master’s degree, 68 master’s programs under the second-level disciplines, 4 professional degree programs at master’s level, 1 doctoral program of Mongolian Pharmacy. It covers an area of 2,366,000 square meters, with the campus area of 420,000 square meters. There are 1,769 workers and staff members in the university. Over 1,059 of them are full-time teachers. The university now has 20,507 undergraduates, 746 postgraduates, and 336 international students. As the training units of international students for China Government Scholarship and students from Mongolia for Inner Mongolia Government Scholarship, IMUN has also been rated as the Chinese Training Base for International Students approved by China’s Ministry of Education and has signed agreements with 23 universities from Asia, Europe and North America.
