Founded in 1941, the University was originally named National Guiyang Teachers’ College. At present, GZNU comprises 19 Schools, one School of Adult Education, one Independent College (Qiushi College), one teaching department, covering the following disciplines: Philosophy, Economics, Law, Education, Literature, History, Science, Engineering, Agriculture and Management. Currently, students are pursuing degrees in a variety of programs, 52 of which are undergraduates, 44 are master’s, including one educational master’s, one university teacher in-service study for master degree programs. And there are eight provincial-level key disciplines, four provincial research bases of Social Sciences, one training base of provincial key disciplines, two provincial talented group of scientific and technological innovation, 5 Undergraduate’s Specialty Construction points of the Ministry of Education, 16 disciplines for provincial-level demonstration, 20 provincial-level courses, two provincial-level teaching teams, three provincial key laboratories, one provincial-level engineering research center and one provincial-level engineering laboratory in Guizhou Normal University.
