Inner Mongolia University of Technology (IMUT), situated in Hohhot, the capital city of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (IMAR) which is a northern border area of China, is a multi-disciplinary university with a teaching focus not only on engineering, but on natural science, liberal arts, economics, management, law, education and art as well. It was founded in 1951, and renamed Inner Mongolia University of Technology (IMUT) in 1993. The University focuses on undergraduate education, with postgraduate programs being an important part and is eligible to confer doctoral degrees. IMUT has attracted a well-structured and well-qualified staff of 2076 members, including 1430 full-time teachers, Currently, 27000 full-time students are studying at the university. IMUT insist on running the university openly and attach importance to exchanging ideas and cooperating with colleges and university at home and aboard. We have a long-term intercollegiate cooperation with many overseas universities of USA, Canada, Germany, France, Poland, Japan, Russia, Australia, Mongolia and Tajikistan. In 2003, IMUT became one of the universities which carry out the project of “1-2-1 Sino-US Talent-Cultivating Plans” in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In 2005 IMUT was approved as one of the universities that are qualified to receive international students sponsored by the Inner Mongolia government scholarship program, and in 2008 it was approved by the Ministry of Education as one of the universities that are qualified to receive international students sponsored by the Chinese government scholarship program. Currently there are around 220 international students studying at IMUT for bachelor, master or doctor degrees.
